Raising
confidence and ambition in
state schools
AchieversUK
aims to raise the aspirations of children in schools by highlighting the
success of former pupils.
While independent schools make
excellent use of their network of former pupils, state
schools often fail to do likewise because they cannot employ
dedicated staff. Thus a remarkable resource goes to
waste.
Now
AchieversUK makes
it easy for state schools to show their pupils some of the
many
successful people in whose footsteps they are following.
As a result, they gain confidence and
realise they too can go on to succeed in a variety of ways.
Undermining the
cult of celebrity
A core aim of
AchieversUK
is to challenge the cult of celebrity
by highlighting not only
high flyers, but also those who may
not be household names but who enjoy their work and contribute to their
community in a host of different and important ways.
In essence, young people learn
that jobs in business, health, education, hospitality, etc.
can be interesting, enjoyable and offer much greater
satisfaction than can ever come from appearing on reality TV
and enjoying 'five minutes of fame'.

Achiever
visits
inspire youngsters
A key element of AchieversUK
sees successful individuals return to their former school
for Q&A sessions with the current crop of pupils.
Such Achievers have included
business people artists, footballers, builders, comedians, lawyers,
scientists and even
the Prime Minister!
We are grateful to all and
look forward to arranging many more visits. |
