Rachael
Bibby
Art |
|
The
Scotsman recently described Rachael as a
remarkable young painter. She studied drawing and
painting at Edinburgh College of Art and likes to
experiment with her work. Her style of portraiture
using a mixture of textures and rich paints
certainly makes an impact. Soon after she
graduated, Rachael's debut exhibition was held at
Arbroath Library. |

John
Glenday
Poetry |
|
John
is best known as a poet but he has also enjoyed many
other jobs including spells as a driver, a printer’s
assistant, and a psychiatric nurse. John also
co-founded a small publishing company, Blind Serpent
Press which produced books in Scotland. Given
his love of words, it is no surprise that John also
studied English at university. (more) |

Ralph
is making a name for himself in rugby circles. He is
a highly talented hooker who made his debut for the

of his ambitions for the future is to gain a full
Scottish cap. Ralph also realises sport involves
helping others to enjoy taking part, and is
therefore happy to spend a lot of his free time as

Patrick
Wright
Anderson |
|
Patrick
was one of many whose great achievement was to help
Britain and its allies win the First World War.
He played cricket and football for the school team
and won the Science Medal in 1910. Patrick then went
to St Andrews University but joined the Black Watch
regiment when war was declared in 1914. He
went on to serve with the RAF but sadly, like a
number of his fellow pupils, paid the ultimate price
when he was badly injured on a flying mission in
1918. Patrick's health never recovered and he died
in Arbroath Infirmary on 2 November 1921, aged just
21. (more)

Boys
Cross Country
Team |
|
Arbroath High has produced many talented stars in a wide variety of sports such as football,
athletics and golf. More are sure to follow in
the years ahead. It is particularly pleasing
when a team representing the school does well. This
was certainly the case in 1993 when the boy's' cross
country squad won the u14 AND u17 Scottish Schools Cross Country
Championships!
