Catriona showed great promise as a young golfer and
represented Scotland and Great Britain as a junior.
She benefited greatly from a golf scholarship at
Stirling University which also enabled her to gain a
degree in Financial Studies. Catriona has since
established herself as one of the world's top

Prof. Alan
Duncan

Alan
was a keen sportsman and a brilliant student who
achieved a First Class Honours degree in Maths from
St Andrews University before going on to a wonderful
career in higher education. He worked at
universities in the USA and Britain before becoming
Professor of Physics at Stirling. Alan's research
was widely praised and, as a result, he lectured all
over the world. |

Pummel

When
former pupils Ali Wales, Dan Purcell and Mike Pepper
formed a rock band called
Pummel it took only a few months before they were attracting a
loyal fan base and receiving good reviews from music
critics. Next came their own CD followed by the nationwide Battle of the Bands
competition in which Pummel won the right
to represent Britain at the world finals in Germany!

Rosie
Bamford

While
Rosie was at North Berwick High, she was one of only
25 students across Scotland selected for the
Scottish Space School visit to NASA headquarters in
the USA. During the trip she worked with NASA
astronauts and scientists and visited laboratories
and the space shuttle. The trip aims to excite young
Scots about the career options in science,
engineering and technology. |

Howard

Howard
became interested in cars and motorbikes at an early
age, and went on to build both a successful sporting
and a successful business career based on this
interest. Howard was British motorcycle racing
champion four times and in 1990 claimed the European
title! After this he built up a successful car
repair and sales business based in his home town. |

Colin
Pyle

Colin
studied in Scotland and the USA before working for
various Westminster and Scottish Parliament
politicians. He has also been involved in a lot of
work as a communications consultant. Colin recently
took up a communications post with the Royal Bank of
Scotland Group at their World Headquarters outside
Edinburgh. |

Andrew
Farquhar
Politics |

As a
local councillor in the Scottish Borders, Andrew
helps take decisions which have a big impact on
everyone who lives or works in the area. He is an
Independent which means he does not stand for a
particular political party. Before entering
politics, Andrew was a senior police officer and
also worked in business, so he should have a good
grasp of the problems ordinary people face. (more)

Sarah
Merriman

Sarah
left school with a good set of qualifications and
decided to have a gap year before going on to
university. When she did go, she went to Newham
College, Cambridge University to read History. Sarah
finds she must study hard because of the volume of
work but she loves the course and the new life she
has built in Cambridge. (more) |

Ross
Chainey
Journalist |

Ross
studied English at Edinburgh University. His love of
writing attracted him to journalism so he then
studied for a post-graduate diploma in print
journalism in London. While still on the course,
Ross had features published in national newspapers.
He is also a big fan of cinema and has acted as a
judge at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. |
