Natasha

(Star Pupil)

Sport

Pupils from Drumchapel High show a wide and impressive range of talents. For example, Natasha is the 2006 Under 14 Scottish Schools Table Tennis Champion!  She has also represented Scotland.  This is a terrific honour which of course did not come easily.  As any sportsperson knows, such success only comes from hours of practice as well as natural talent.

David

Clark

Actor

David is a successful actor who has appeared both on stage and screen.  Many people in Scotland may not know his name but recognise his face because he has appeared in some of the nation's most popular TV shows.  David enjoys the TV work but is happiest performing on stage in front of a live audience.

Local families believe learning is important and it is therefore no surprise that many former pupils have achieved a lot in the world of education. Jim is a good example. After going to university and then studying to become a teacher, he has enjoyed a long and successful career in the classroom.  Jim has helped many young people not only pass exams, but also enjoy school!

John

Smith

Soldier

John was one of many whose great achievement was to help Britain and its allies win the First World War. Sadly, he paid the ultimate price as a report in a local newspaper in 1916 tells: "Corporal J. Smith has been killed in action near Somme in France.  He was educated in the local school and before being called up was a farm labourer. He was 19 years of age."

Susan

Jones

Engineer

In the workplace, people must be prepared to re-train and keep their skills up-to-date.  Susan is a good example. She first served an apprenticeship as an engineer and has since trained in computer studies.  She enjoys using modern technology in her work.  In fact, Susan now trains other engineers in the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) at work.

Brian

Hall

Business

Brian always wanted to run his own business and has now achieved his aim.  As the owner of a local building firm he tends to be very busy because a lot of people know and trust him.  Of course, Brian knows he must do a good job or his reputation will quickly begin to suffer.  Brian is very proud of the fact that his company now creates jobs in the community where he grew up.

MPs and MSPs may be better known to the general public, but local councillors such as Mary also take important decisions that have a major impact on the lives of local people.
