Andy
left school in 1982 for Glasgow School of Art where
he became interested in sculpture. He has a studio
in the West End of Glasgow and works mainly in
steel, bronze and fibreglass. His sculptures are
usually human or animal in form and often refer to
the history or geography of the surrounding area. It
was Andy who created the Clydesdale horse on the M8.

Shabana Akhtar
Bakhsh

Shabana appears on TV screens twice a week as Sara
Malik in River City. After leaving school Shabana
trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and
Drama. She says she was inspired by her idol, the
Scottish actor Robert Carlisle, to realise her
dreams and go to drama school! Besides acting, she
loves shopping and playing basketball. |

Jack
Bruce

One
critic wrote about Jack "Let's not beat around the
bush here. Jack Bruce is simply the greatest blues /
rock bassist that ever walked the face of this
planet". Few people are praised in this way but many
believe Jack deserves it. During the 1960s he
served an apprenticeship in a variety of bands
before joining the super-group Cream who went
on to sell 35 millions records! |

Alistair
McKinlay
Science |
Alistair studied natural philosophy at Strathclyde
University before carrying out research for his PhD
in Radiation Physics at Paisley University. He has
enjoyed a successful career in his chosen field and
was recently appointed Chairman of the International
Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection.
Alistair relaxes from his heavy workload by playing
lots of tennis.

Jeanne
Roddick
Minister |
After
leaving Bellahouston, Jeanne took a degree in
Practical Theology at Glasgow University. Having
been a member of the Church of Scotland she realised
a long-held ambition when she was ordained as a
Minister of the Church in 2003. She is now a popular
minister at Greenbank Parish Church and has also
helped many people in hospitals and schools.

Ferrier

Ferrier is one of Scotland’s best-known chefs as
well as a restaurateur and writer. His books include
the ‘Glasgow on a Plate’ series which are all about
other Scottish chefs and a selection of their
favourite recipes. The series now includes other
famous cities. Ferrier is a Master Chef of Great
Britain and is vice chairman of the Scottish Chefs'
Association. |
