Benny
Higgins
Business |
|
Benny is a talented
guy. As a young footballer he was good enough to captain the Celtic
Youth Team! He then studied at Glasgow University before
choosing a career in financial services. Benny's progress has been
remarkable. He has been a top executive at both Standard Life and
RBS Group and in 2006 moved to one of the top positions at HBOS. (more) |

Jim
Kerr
Music |
|
Jim
has been a huge success in the world of rock music over the
past 25 years. Along with two other Holyrood
pupils, he founded Simple Minds, the Glasgow
band band which has gone on to sell millions of
recordings across the world. With Jim as lead
singer, they were one of the top acts at
the legendary Live Aid concert in aid of
famine relief in Ethiopia. |

Anne
Downie
Theatre |
|
Anne
is a graduate of both Glasgow University and The
Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. She has
written numerous plays and scripts for television,
radio, and theatre, and is a published short story
writer. She has also combined the career of writer
with that of actress, appearing in numerous radio,
television, film, and stage productions. |
|

Des
Clark
Comedy |
|
Life
as a young comic can be very tough but Des has coped remarkably well.
His unusual style is a big hit with audiences and
critics alike. Des is clearly very talented because he
also writes all his own material. A bright
future seems assured, especially as he is already a
popular
TV and radio presenter! |
|

Scott
G.
Star Pupil |
|
Pupils
are often grateful to teachers but in Scott's case
it was the other way round when he helped a teacher
who collapsed. Scott, who had previously attended a first aid
course, came to the teacher's aid by placing him in
the recovery position and calling an ambulance on
his mobile phone. |

Charlie
Burchill
Music |
|
The
idea for one of the greatest rock bands in history,
Simple Minds, allegedly came to two former
Holyrood pupils on the steps of Milan Cathedral
during a hitch-hiking tour of Europe. Charlie, a
guitarist, was one of those pupils. The other was
lead singer Jim Kerr. After 25 years both are
still touring but now it's as world-famous rock
stars! |
