Gerard

Kelly

Actor

Former pupils seem to have a liking for the stage judging by the number who have become top actors. Paul Gerard Kelly was a pupil at St Gregory's High before it merged with St Andrew's.  He is now a very successful actor having appeared in a wide range of comic and straight roles on television and film as well as on stage. Gerard is also a great star on the Scottish pantomime scene.


Frances
Curran


MSP

Frances is one of the 129 Members of the Scottish Parliament until she stood down in 2007.  During her spell in office she took important decisions that affected everyone in Scotland.  Frances showed an interest in politics at a young age and became involved in various pressure groups.  She was elected as MSP for West of Scotland in 2003. She represented the Scottish Socialist Party.

Katy

Actor

Katy is another FP to enjoyed great success on stage and screen. She was pupil at St Gregory's High who worked hard to realise her dream of becoming an actor. Kate has worked steadily for 20 years .. no mean feat for an actor .. and has appeared in many top TV shows such as Holby City, Casualty, Tutti Frutti and Prime Suspect.  She also starred in a TV performance of The Steamie.


Pat
Nevin


Sport

Pat was a top class footballer who played on the wing for, Scotland as well as Chelsea, Everton and many other clubs. He is now a successful football pundit on TV and radio. Pat also spent time as Chief Executive of Motherwell FC and can claim to be one of the few professional footballers who has appeared on a TV art show because of his love and knowledge of painting.

Languages

The teaching of foreign languages has always been regarded as important as St Andrew's.  It was therefore no great surprise when a number of talented senior pupils from the school were selected to as 'Young Ambassadors' for a national languages project based at Stirling University. The students were learning both Spanish & French. (more)

Nurse

Louise realised a childhood dream when she gained a place on a nursing course. She is now in the third year of her training and has passed all her assessments so far. Louise is looking forward to working in Accident & Emergency (A&E) as she will discover whether TV's Casualty is accurate!  She eventually hopes to become a hospital ward sister.

Police

Sarah decided on a career in the police when she was in her final year at school. She has never regretted it.  Her work is varied and she enjoys helping the public in many ways. Sarah also likes being part of a hard-working team who help each other.  She believes it is important to uphold the law and finds it is very interesting to deal with those people who decide to break it.

Mark

Actor

Mark is a successful actor on stage and screen.  Many people in Scotland may not know his name but will certainly recognise his face because Mark has appeared in some of the nation's most popular TV shows. These include Chewin' The Fat, Still Game, Monarch of the Glen and Rebus.  This shows Mark is happy playing both comedy and straight roles.

David

Marshall

Sport

David is another top footballer to emerge from St Andrew's. He joined Celtic as a young goalkeeper and went on to appear regularly in the first team squad.  David made headlines throughout Europe in one of his earliest games when he faced the mighty Barcelona in the Nou Camp stadium. He played incredibly well to defy some of the world's top players and earn Celtic a great result. David is now playing with Norwich City.
