is one of Scotland's top politicians. She worked as
a lawyer before turning to full-time politics as an
MSP for the Glasgow Region. She is now one of the SNP's
best performers and often represents the party in

ambition. She has reported for the BBC for many

|
Sally
developed a deep love of sailing and went on to
compete in one of the world's toughest races. In
1989/90 she was a member of the all-female crew
which successfully completed the Whitbread Round The
World Yacht Race. |

Julie
is a very successful actress who has appeared on
both stage and screen. She has had roles in a number
of films and has also played parts in many popular
TV programmes such as Holby City.

councillors are elected to make important decisions
that affect people's lives. Rita became a councillor
in South Ayrshire and will be remembered by many
former pupils as their Geography & Modern Studies
teacher. |

Academy is proud of many pupils who have starred in
a variety of sports of the years. Recently,
one S6 pupil represented Scotland at Judo while an
S4 pupil came 2nd in an international golf
competition. |

In
recent years, attention has rightly focused on
protecting the environment. The Academy was
therefore happy to be the first N. Ayrshire
secondary school to achieve the Eco-school 'Silver'
standard.

While
activities such as football and rugby may attract a
lot of attention many Greenwood pupils have
performed well in other areas. For example over the
years, a number of youngsters have become district
chess champions. |

John's achievement was to help
Britain and its allies win World War I.
Sadly, he paid the ultimate price for his country
when he died at the Battle of the Somme in France.
John was
18 years old.
