The school is proud of a number of former pupils who have gone on to work in the media. Ian is well-known to people throughout the country as a TV and newspaper sports reporter who has a deep knowledge of football, racing and many other sports.

Roy captained Scotland schoolboys and went on to captain his boyhood heroes Celtic and the full Scotland international team. Roy was a legend at Celtic but also played for Newcastle and Aberdeen before moving into football management. (more)

Michael gained a 1st Class Honours degree in Astronomy from Glasgow University followed by a PhD at the famous Jodrell Bank Observatory. He is currently Executive Director of a major European astronomical research project based in the Netherlands. (more)

Sport

Steve is a highly-rated assistant manager to Chelsea's Jose Mourhino. He was also a successful player at Chelsea in the 80s & 90s being a key defender when the club won both the FA Cup and the European Cup Winners Cup.

A former factory worker, Maggie went back to school at St Andrew's as an adult student. After passing her exams she went to Glasgow University to study English Literature ... and within 10 years she was a successful novelist!  (more)

Music

Music is a key subject at St Andrew's and the school is proud of pupils who go on to play instruments. Sarah took up the bagpipes at a young age and now features on a website which highlights pipers from around the world.

Sport

John is one of the UK's most promising young athletes. He is a British and Scottish Schools' High Jump Champion as well as a Scottish Pentathlon Champion. He also holds a bronze medal won in the high jump at the World Youth Championships in Sweden! (more)

John's achievement was to help Britain and its allies win World War I. Sadly, he paid the ultimate price for his country when he died at the Battle of the Somme in France. John was 18 years old.

Realised a childhood dream by gaining a place on a nursing course. Now in her third year and greatly enjoying the course. Louise eventually hopes to become a hospital ward sister.
